The Allatoona High School Band Band program is committed to musical excellence. Allatoona High School is located in Acworth, Georgia in Cobb County, thirty miles north of Atlanta and is the newest high school in our district. Allatoona High School is in its’ seventh year, opening in the fall of 2008. We are named after the local lake, Lake Allatoona, which is also connected to Lake Acworth.
Students in the band program at Allatoona may participate in Symphonic Winds, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Marching Band, Jazz Band, Percussion Ensemble, Winter Guard, or any of our smaller chamber ensembles. The marching band program is an integral part of the overall program at Allatoona. The Allatoona Marching Buccaneer Band is a three time Bands of America Regional Finalist as well as a multi time Grand Champion at many GA competitions. All of our Concert Bands have received superior ratings at our Large Group Performance Evaluation since the school opened in 2008 and our Winter Guard has earned several first place finishes.
The Allatoona Band Program has continued to grow since its opening in the fall of 2008. The band program is now over 185 members. We would like to thank our middle school band programs, Durham Middle School, McClure Middle School and Awtrey Middle School and their directors, Michelle Rickard, Cara Morantz, Cyndi Sallas, Connie McCardel, Ashley Rider, Mike Sessoms and Nicole Longevin-Burroughs for all of their support of the Allatoona High School Band Program as we begin our journey. The Allatoona Band Program is lead by directors Mark Gurnow and Cecilia Clark.
Whether it is in a concert bands, marching band, jazz ensemble, color guard or chamber group, Allatoona Band students enjoy making music. Our commitment to music-making is a way of life.
